It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings to search out a matter. (Proverbs 25:2)

Seals, Trumpets, and Bowels

The First 4 Trumpets of Revelation

The book of Revelation, the last book in the new testament, is entirely about the last days of earth and spending eternity in Heaven.

Revelation was written in 94AD by the apostle John, 62 years after the crucifiction and resurrection of Jesus, the Christ, almost 2000 years ago.

The book is divided into 3 sections - past, present, and future -

Revelation 1:19 - "Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;"

The future times that John writes about begin with Revelation 4:1 and occur between 94 AD and today (June 2020), a period of 1,926 years.

The trumpets start at Revelation 8:7, right after the opening of the last, or 7th, seal was opened by Jesus, the Christ.

There are a lot of 7s in Revelation. Seven (7) is God's number, it denotes spiritual perfection.

There are 7 trumpet calls in Revelation. Each one signals the beginning of a new event. The trumpet makes a loud, clear, unmistakable sound that can even be heard over the noise of battle.

Please keep in mind that what is being discussed in the scriptures below are spiritual ideas rather than existing physical things.

Revelation 8:2-6 - "And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound."

The First Trumpet

Revelation 8:7 - "The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up."

The Second Trumpet

Revelation 8:8 - "And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed."

The Third Trumpet

Revelation 8:10 - "And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 8:11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter."

The Fourth Trumpet

Revelation 8:12 - "And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise."

Ok, these first 4 trumpets, as far as what they are and when they occured, are anybody's guess. Some extremely intelligent Biblical researchers have spent lifetimes looking into them and everyone of them has come up with different answers. I'm not going to lead you astray. I don't know either. But the fifth trumpet is a different story.
